Divnorogorye
These places are said to have magical power. Some people come here and fall in love with these ancient chalk mountains with cliffs. Climbing up, you feel like on the seashore. It left over 100 million years ago. Going down, you become a small part of this sea. But only the narrow Don River and the small rivers flowing into it remind of the water that used to be here.
Monks came to this area in the 17th century, and maybe even earlier. They cut temples, passages, cells and refectories in chalk rocks. Inside, there is very high humidity and a constant temperature of 10-12 degrees.

Belgorod Province, Kholki
The Holy Trinity Kholki Monastery is the only cave monastery in the Belgorod Province. Judging by the technique of building the caves, the monastery was presumably founded in the XIV century by the monks of the Kiev Pechersk Lavra. According to the legend, the monastery is located at the place where the meeting of Prince Igor Svyatoslavich and his brother Vsevolod took place before their campaign against the Polovtsy in 1185.
